Can you hear it? The sound of Scotty Cam’s famous whistle? Well, we just about can, and as we count down to what we believe will be the premiere of The Block 2024 (our money is on August 18th), we were all left to wonder who the bright-eyed and bushy-tailed contestants would be this year. Until now.
That’s right, we can finally confirm the five teams brave enough to tackle the show’s milestone 20th season on Phillip Island, heralded to be bigger than ever before. Travelling to the holiday hotspot from Denham Court in Sydney’s western suburbs are married couple and The Block 2024 Red Team, Courtney and Grant, who collectively bring experience in landscaping and design. Tick and tick. “We don’t have kids, so I feel like this is a really good time. We want to go into it with a positive attitude and have fun,” says Courtney.
Although the pair are not claiming to be experts, they did jointly complete the build and fit-out of their current home. And with Courtney’s growing online furniture business, The Lazy Stylist, and Grant’s background in landscaping (all-important in facade week when budgets tend to be thinner than ever!), we think the duo has just enough ‘oomph’ to put them on the front foot.

Names: Courtney, 32, and Grant, 30.
Professions: Courtney is both an event account manager and furniture designer, boasting 57k Instagram followers on her furniture design business, The Lazy Stylist. Grant is a landscape business development manager, who prides himself on ensuring his work is “planned down to a tee”.
From: Sydney, New South Wales.
Fun facts: The couple met in Sydney nine years ago, and although Courtney moved to Brisbane and Grant to London, they never lost touch. They married three years ago and originally planned a “huge wedding in Malta” before COVID hit.
The couple’s style has reportedly been dubbed by judges as “Moditerranean“, a blend of Mediterranean and modern. Considering the site’s past and the glimpses we’ve seen of the new Palm Springs-like builds thus far, that seems like a pretty good fit!
Courtney and Grant say that although they get on each other’s nerves, they always come back together and “have a joke”, and are overall having ‘pinch me’ moments about their new Blockhead status. “I know it sounds like a cliche, but I always felt there was a bit more for us,” says Courtney. We love a couple who are in it for the right reasons!
